Kolukkumalai Top View Point

Can say south India's best sunrise can be witnessed from kollukumalai, u have to reach the viewpoint before sunrise. U can hire an off-road Jeep from the base point below. Only these jeeps have access to the viewpoint. 6 people can take a jeep for 2500-3000. The jaguar rock is also a main attraction on the peak. Weekends and public holidays are mostly crowded. U can also visit for the sunset view which is comparatively less crowded.

Kolukkumalai in Tamil Nadu is an awesome spot for watching the sunrise, especially with all the mist and fog around. Nature looks stunning there. Going to Kolukkumalai isn’t just a trip, it’s like a magical experience. We’ll feel super calm and peaceful, like all the stress is leaving our mind and body. The sunrise is amazing, making it the best way to start the day. They’ve got cool Jeep rides to take you to the hilltop. We gotta leave early to enjoy everything there. It’s a fun adventure, and the place itself is totally worth checking out.

Detailed Review: -Our visit was during pongal holidays and quite a bit of rush all the way and back. -How to get there? So, only way to reach the peak is by hiring local jeeps costs around ₹2500. The cost is not based on per person. It’s cost for a jeep. Can travel from 1 to 6 people maximum for the same cost. That gives cheaper cost share with 6 people. -Travel duration? 1 hour to reach and an hour more to get back to town by pure off-roading. Else times are upto how much time you spend in and around the peak. -best time to visit? Avoid holidays if possible. So that you can enjoy with lesser crowds. The crowd never reduces any time in a day. So be it for the sunrise until the sunset, it’s crowded. Which time in a day to visit is upto you. -What’s in the peak? Once they drop you at the peak, the is a 30 minute walk to and fro. The last point is the lion view which seems like the shape of a open mouth lion. And after coming back you will be taken further higher in jeep by a 10 minute ride to a rest stop (Cafe). The cafe is quite costly selling hot drinks, bread omelette, instant noodles sort of edibles. For us black tea ₹25 and milk tea ₹30. -convenience? Make sure stomach’s mild for the hour long off-road trip one way. So 2 hours in total. There is no bathroom/toilet facilities in between. There is toilet facilities in the rest-stop (cafe) and nowhere else. -Dust allergy? If you are allergic to dust, make sure to carry face masks with you. The total stretch is just dust magnet.

Absolute fairy tale stuff. Mountains covered with tea plantations, as far as my eyes could see, and the small town in the midst of it. The village outside the tea estate with a stream running through it. The morning suprabhata from a nearby temple echoing to my ears. That morning is just etched into my memory forever. You are supposed to book the Jeeps in advance, and it is recommended to visit early in the morning during sunrise. But since we were not aware of the booking norm, even though we reached early morning, we were delayed and missed sunrise, but it was still worth it, and I can't wait to visit this dreamland of a place again. The road is extremely bumpy and will be causing you some discomfort, and You have to trek for a bit in the end. Drivers were friendly, and to say the least, they were skilled. They'll let you spend a good amount of time on the peak, and while coming down to the base, they will give you a stop to have a look around and click some pictures. Overall, it was really worth it. Can't wait to visit again.

Incredible off-road Jeep trucking experience to reach the kollulukumalai top view point, After reaching the view point we were in the top of the mountain 🏔️ it's around 7000 FT height. The weather was very foggy and mist covered the hills we were not able to clearly see the sunrise 🌄. But the journey of trucking is an insane off-road experience and entire hills are covered with tea estate. Lots of great places available for the photo shoots too.
